Gy Harness

Gy Harness brings more than 16 years of rail and electrification expertise to his role as Director of Overhead Contact Systems at US Rail Systems. His career began with Network Rail, where he advanced from Graduate Engineer to managing all rail infrastructure assets across East London and delivering more than £45 million annually in OPEX and CAPEX programs. Over the years, he has led major OCS renewal programs, overseen large multidisciplinary maintenance teams, and introduced new technologies that improved reliability, safety, and operational performance across international rail networks.

His work spans the UK, the United States, and the Middle East, including significant contributions to the MBTA in Boston, where he helped transition their electrification department from reactive to preventative maintenance. Most recently, he served as Associate Director with Network Rail Consulting in New York, leading asset renewal and OCS initiatives for major transit agencies.

Today, as Director of Overhead Contact Systems for US Rail Systems, Gy applies his technical knowledge, strategic leadership, and global experience to advance electrification reliability and deliver modern, resilient OCS solutions for clients nationwide.
