San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Core Capacity Project
Project Description
This project provides upgrades to BART’s 34.5kV subtransmission system including replacement of the left and right circuit cable sections between RCP traction power substation (TPSS)to RPD traction power switching station, RPD to RCN TPSS, RCN to RRI TPSS, RRI to future RYE TPSS and RYE to RRY TPSS. Concurrent with the subtransmission circuit replacement, installation of isolation disconnect switches at RCP, RPD, RCN, RRI, the future RYE site, and RRY substation locations. The project also covers large scale upgrades to several BARTs key Traction Power Substations in readiness for closer headways following implementation of the new Hitachi CBTC system.

US Rail Systems Scope
USRS has led technical traction power CM oversight on the R Line 34.5kV Traction Power Cable Replacement project for BART. Valued at $54 million, our team provided technical CM supporting the successful delivery of this project. USRS provided BART with the lead Traction Power Construction Manager overseeing the enhancement of Civic Center and Montgomery Sub-Stations. Our expert in the field has been commended by BART and retained for the future East Bay Core Capacity work.
